Emirates Golf Club – Majilis & Faldo Courses
Please Note:
Emirates Golf Club is undergoing a number of improvements during the quiet summer season to enhance its existing world class golf, recreational and hospitality facilities. These improvements include clubhouse refurbishment, upgrades of the Majlis course and the introduction of night golf to the Faldo course. All the improvements will be complete by October 2010.
During the renovation, all clubhouse operations will move to the state-of-the-art tournament hospitality facilities used for the Omega Dubai Desert Classic that overlook the Majlis’ 9th and 18th greens. The temporary clubhouse facility will comprise of a spike bar, pro shop, meeting and function rooms, locker rooms, gymnasium, aerobic studio and physio treatment rooms.
The Majlis and Faldo golf courses will also be subject to a number of substantial improvements, geared to guarantee the highest level of playing conditions all year round and to enhance the playability of the courses for every standard of golfer. Developments include a new fully automated irrigation system to reduce water consumption, new and renovated bunkering, additional landscaping and an extension of the cart path on the Majlis course. Night-golf has been introduced to the Faldo course with the installation of floodlights, making it the only fully floodlit championship golf course in the UAE. All 18 holes will be open for play from 12th April 2010.

Emirates Golf Club's second championship golf course was opened in 1996 and was christened The 'Wadi', taken from the Arabic word for 'valley'. The Wadi was redesigned by six-time major winner Nick Faldo and the new 'The Faldo' re-opened in October 2006.
A par-73, the course has proved to be as popular as ever and lures players to the challenge of its 7,348 yards. Faldo’s trademark tees and bunkers have combined with the naturally rugged terrain to create a unique golfing experience.
A natural wadi running the length of the course comes in to play without being classified as a hazard; ‘The Faldo’ has surpassed all of its expectations and is destined to be regarded as one of the finest courses in Dubai.

The flagship course at Emirates Golf Club, The Majlis championship course is a challenging par 72, 7,301-yard layout. Sculptured around the original tall desert dunes in 1987, the Majlis was the first grass course in the Middle East and takes its name from the Arabic word for 'meeting place'.
One of the most prominent features on the course is the Majlis positioned between the 8th and 9th holes, while one of the most challenging holes on the course is the par 4, dogleg 8th. Stroke index 3 and playing a full 434 yards, it has the unusual distinction of playing up-hill and requires a long, well directed drive to leave a reasonable second shot to its small, undulating green where the dreaded 3-putt is always a threat.
The Majlis has developed a worthy reputation worldwide as a testing layout for even the best golfers. This ‘desert miracle’ features hundreds of indigenous species of flora and fauna, beautifully complemented by meandering fairways and seven fresh and saltwater lakes.
